Collectors Club
Motorcycle

3/4 view

This is a quick review to put to rest rumors that The Official Hot Wheels Collectors Club is defunct.  The Club Kits have begun to ship, and they include the Collectors Club Motorcycle, which is the 1997 Scorchin' Scooter in an exclusive decorative scheme.

Close-up: rear 3/4 view This rendition of the Scooter is actually the nicest to come out of the factory to date.  The body is painted in a black pearl metallic and has flame tampos that blend from yellow to red to blue.  The Collectors Club lettering is printed in black and white across the top of the bike, while the ever-present HW logo is printed on either side above the exhaust pipes in red, yellow and white.  For the first time, the front forks / headlight plastic piece is plated in chrome, improving the appearance tremendously.  The motor / chassis section is metal and plated in the blue-tint zinc that started appearing earlier this year.  Some nice extra detailing is present such as the painting of the exhaust pipe openings in black to give the appearance of open ends.  The wheels are the standard black plastic with chrome rims.  The Mayaysian-made motorcycle is packaged wheels-down in a form-fitting blister on the European-style half-height card.

The Club kit contents are packaged in a sturdy cardboard box decorated with the front of the `59 Mercury with the custom grill on the top, sporting a Collectors Club license plate.  The bottom of the box features the nose of Kyle Petty's Grand Prix.  Included with the kit, along with the motorcycle, are a membership card, a 30th anniversary pin (similiar to the one included with the 30th anniversary Twin Mill), a T-shirt neatly printed with Collectors Club graphics, a license plate frame, a keychain and a bumper sticker.  Included in a welcome letter that also promises future exclusive vehicle offerings.

Overall, the bike looks good, but time will tell if future club vehicles and merchandise will justify the cost of membership. 65Skylark
