Tail Dragger

Wow. What a sweet casting.
First the Impala, then the T-Bird, and now ... THIS. While we all knew it
was coming, the poster picture does it no justice. The Tail Dragger is one
of the best classic Hot Wheels manufactured to date.
This Malaysian-made customized 1941 Ford lowrider has a cast metal body beautifully
finished in a dark purple metallic, the same color as the `65 Impala Lowrider.
The chassis, also cast metal, features twin triple-exhausts on either side on the
body, just behind the doors. The rear fender covers sit so low that the rear wheels
are almost totally obscured. The glass is clear plastic. The interior, made of white
plastic, includes the inner door and rear compartment side panels and has moderate
detail. The body has the door, hood and trunk relief, as well as headlight details.
The cus tomized grill is part of the chassis. Delicate pinstripes in light pink, light
blue and silver metallic are tampoed on the hood, front fenders and sides. The car
rides on small chrome lace wheels and rolls well, due partially to its above-average
weight.
The Tail Dragger is an excellent example of the quality designs Mattel is introducing this year.
This casting will be a popular car for years to come.
