1997 First Editions #11
'97 Corvette

Now
this is a quality piece, an example of what Mattel is capable of
producing. The craftsmanship of the '97 Corvette is outstanding, with dimensions
that are faithful to the full-sized car. In addition to the tooling, the painting
and tampo printing are at a high level usually reserved for Mattel's limited edition
offerings.
The body is painted in metallic Forest Green. The taillights and front corner lights are
printed in red and silver respectively. All of the simulated sheet metal seams and door
edges are highlighted in black, giving the detail on the model great depth. The tan
plastic interior also has much detail. The now-ubiquitous HW logo is molded into the
inside of the rear window, which eliminates the need of having the logo obtrusively
tampoed on the body or windows. The model carries a classic look with large
chrome lace wheels, and has decent detail on the chassis. The only negative is the
presence of a plastic instead of metal chassis. This model is a winner, the best FE
this year, and easily one of the best Hot Wheels that Mattel has ever produced.
