Hello Boys and girls.  Been thinkin about a couple of things.  For the most part I like the sets that the manufacturer of our little toys is assembling.  Cept for one.  Vodoo highway.  Something about the word I guess conjures up images of things not so nice.  I wonder why a family oriented toy maker like ours would do this.  The cars are not unique.  All are available in other sets.  My collection will be one set shy of one of each I can guarantee you that and yours should be too.
.
Now about this habit of collecting.  Most collectors out there have been doing this for a very short time.  That is  not a bad thing and its ok.  Collecting can be a lot of fun, provided you can find something to collect.  But that's another story.  The proliferation of cars is nothing short of sheer marketing genius.  Put a number on it and it immediately becomes in demand.  How many cars will you buy to "have them all".  Paint and plastic do not make a different car.  The car makes the different car.  If you like it it's fine but I wonder how many of you fuel the fire by liking it because it is and not because you do?  What makes a purple or green or orange or yellow car more
desirable?  ONLY the fact that you have been told that it is rare.  Nothing more and nothing less.  If there were no reports or rumors would you like the different color much less even know it was there?  I mean the little ribbon being a different color or being placed in a different location sure makes it rare.  And how about the car produced in 4 different locations...still the same car isn't it?  The total number of our little gems is now in the thousands with most coming in the past 3 or 4 years.  To have one of each is impressive..if you have the room to enjoy them I guess.  To have one of each ever made would be something well under 1000 tho did you realize that?  There are well under 1000 different castings. Now to have one of each casting...that's impressive.  To truly enjoy the ones you like is impressive.  To listen to the passion in the collectors voice as he or she shows their collection that is made up of not every car but just those they like ...now that's impressive. The point is simply this.  Are you a slave to changes in paint and plastic or are you a collector?   Have Fun
.
