| CB's first came to the Internet in August of 1996 as CB's Hot
Wheelz Museum. It was a sad little one-page site. As our interests diversified we changed our name to CB's Die Cast Car Museum. To say we have grown and improved is an understatement. Most of our improvement has come from the wonderful (unpaid) staff at CB's and the many visitors we have who not only visit the site but also participate by sending information for many of our pages. I began collecting in 1993 and after moving to Alamogordo realized there were no collectors here (at least there weren’t then) and so I opened a collectibles shop. I decided to close the shop to get ready to open the Museum, but that was put on hold and so I started the web site as a way to share my love of the hobby with others. I knew NOTHING about computers or web sites but was determined to learn. My thanks continually go out to former staff member cheapskate who taught me so much about computers and web publishing. I still have a lot to learn but no time for that at this point. When we first began CB's was updated daily, sometimes even two or three times a day. I did not work outside the home then and had all the time in the world to devote to the site. In August of 1998 I became seriously ill and the site went without updates for days at a time. I finally got healthier and boom, started working outside the home. Talk about cutting into one's computer time. ;-) I try to update as often as I can and hope that our visitors will continue to check in regularly. In 1998 we held our first Die Cast Car Convention. Our first convention, like our first attempt at an Internet site was pitiful. It was held in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Our second, held in Memphis, Tennessee was larger and a lot more fun for all of us. Our third is in June of 2000 in Houston, Texas and is hosted by the Space City Hot Wheels Collectors. We look forward to seeing the people who attended last year and meeting new friends. A person can collect by his or herself, but the hobby is more fun and rewarding if one collects with friends. We hope soon to move to New York to open the Museum there. Dennis has done extensive research and since we take turns deciding where we will move next (we only moved here so I could baby-sit our granddaughters). New York is his place of choice. So until we get to New York, we will keep the web site operating and continue to hold our yearly conventions. We hope to meet you at one of them or at the Museum when it opens. Dennis and Trish |
